About the program

The Arthur Ashe Program is a Ryan White Title II and III-funded agency housed inside the Hayes E. Willis Health Center, a satellite clinic of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System’s Ambulatory Care Center. The mission of the program is to provide individuals who are HIV infected with access to primary care services. In addition, the clinic provides medical case management and referral services in a variety of health care areas including: HIV-Hepatitis B/C co-infection clinic, psychiatry, dental, nutrition, ophthalmology and women’s health.

The Arthur Ashe Program is staffed with physicians board-certified in infectious diseases,  a Master’s-level prepared social worker, an Advanced AIDS Certified nurse practitioner and registered nurse. Adjunct staff to the Arthur Ashe program include a research nurse with access to the latest investigational anti-HIV drugs and clinical trials, and a peer coach who provides counseling on adherence and wellness strategies.
